=Helgard Johan Wagener (Buddy to most)=

Pleased to meet you all. I was born in South Africa on 22 October 1991, in Johannesburg, but grew up in Cape Town. I have been here in New Zealand since 2006.

==University of Auckland==

Between my last year at Auckland Boys Grammar and my first year at the University of Auckland, I took a year off to make some decisions - what I wanted to do, where I wanted to be in 5 years,ect. Rather than just moping around, I studied a year-long certificate in hospitality, focusing on bartending. If there is anything I learned from this year off, it is that one can find work anywhere in the world if one has hospo experience.

Currently, I am a 3rd year BSc student, majoring in Biological Sciences/Marine Sciences. It is really interesting but keeping up with the University semester pace is sometimes an ordeal. Additionally, I am not entirely sure what end job to expect and am thinking of doing a second degree in Vet Sciences once this degree is completed. Current papers I am taking this year include:

===Summer School===
*[[Compsci 111]]

===First semester===

*BIOSCI 333 - Marine Ecology
*BIOSCI 328 - Fisheries and Aquaculture
*BIOSCI 330 - Freshwater and Estuarine Ecology - '''WAIT LIST'''
*ENG 121G - Reading/Writing/Text

===Second semester===

*BIOSCI 329 - Biology of fish
*BIOSCI 335 - Ecological Physiology
*MARINE 302 - Dynamics of Marine Systems
*Undecided 2nd Gen Ed paper - I really want to study either Japanese or Korean this year. However, I would like to start studies as early as possible,not this late in the year.

==Interests==

#Boxing/Muay Thai - beginning of 2007, I started boxing. A year ago, I switched to MT. Really fun, but still room for improvement.
#Marine Biology
#Anime/Manga - most likely the inspiration for studying Japanese (well, the Japanese girls are really pretty as well XP)
#Coffee-making/Bartending
#Computer games - Guildwars 2, LoL, WOW, Assassin's creed series, ect
#Running
#Reading
#Languages and cultures (particularly other cultures' '''food''')
#Survival craft - Bear Grylls is a boss.

==Memorable quote==

"Fear isn't evil. It lets you know your weaknesses, and once you know those, you can become stronger as well as kinder." - Gildarts
