The beginning.
- the act of beginning something new; "they looked forward to the debut of their new product line"
- the first section of a communication
- presentation: formally making a person known to another or to the public
- a basic or elementary instructional text
- a new proposal; "they resisted the introduction of impractical alternatives"
- insertion: the act of putting one thing into another
- In an essay, article, or book, an introduction (also known as a prolegomenon) is a beginning section which states the purpose and goals of the following writing. This is generally followed by the body and conclusion.
