Vincent Luscombe's Wiki

Welcome to my wiki. My name is Vincent and most of my time outside of uni is spent connected to the internet. I love to play water polo, I've been playing it for an extremely long time now.

The Digital Generation

One of my favourite subjects in High School was ITGS; Information Technologies in a Global Society. The premise was to increase our awareness of social and ethical implications of various technologies, and write lots and lots of words about things. A recurring theme of my two years in that class was how we are all...

Digital Citizens

...and what are our responsibilities of being one. Today a Japanese woman approached me seeking help with English. Though this was not a tell-er-what-she-wants-and-dismiss-her situation, she gave me a small A5 piece of paper with her name, e-mail and a large heading, I NEED YOUR HELP. Turns out she's a teacher in Japan, and while teaching English often gets confused over small grammatical intricacies. The idea was I'm going to e-mail her and we will then have correspondence where, since English is my native language, I will help to resolve her questions. She gave me an example question of the sort of things she asks, "I was surprised with/at the news" where the hiccup was at the use of with instead of at.

But what's the point? Well, if you're still reading which I find difficult to believe, the point is this is that this is highlighting the advantages of being a digital citizen in a digital age. If she'd asked me to maintain correspondence via snail mail, well I would've told her to bugger off (exaggeration). Seeing as her questions are fairly easy, will take me a maximum of 1h every year, and I have the INTERNET to help me, I probably will help her.

When am I not connected to the internet?

An odd question, though seeing as I spend much of my time

  • Playing tf2
  • Playing LoL
  • Being a sucker and using Facebook
  • Doing wiki markup
  • Making lists online

As you can see from this extensive list, I spend lots of time on the internet.

If one was to ask me which was better between tf2 and LoL tf2'd definitely take the cake. Tf2 is an artistic + twitch first-person shooter, whilst LoL is referred to as a MOBA, Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. For more information on video game genres see [ [Action#Subgenres|This Page] ]
