Rubber Natural rubber, also called India rubber or caoutchouc, is an elastomer (an elastic hydrocarbon polymer) that was originally derived from latex, a milky colloid produced by some plants. The plants would be ‘tapped’, that is, an incision made into the bark of the tree and the latex sap collected and refined into a usable rubber. The purified form of natural rubber is the chemical polyisoprene, which can also be produced synthetically. The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries

The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) is an inter-governmental organisation established in 1970.

The membership is open to the governments of countries producing natural rubber. As on 30 November 2009, the ANRPC has 10 Members which are governments of Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. These 10 countries accounted for about 94 per cent of the global production of natural rubber during 2008.[2]
